The 芝加哥 Academy for the 艺术 is a nationally recognized independent high school for the performing 和 visual arts.

 

Designated a National School of Distinction by the John F. 肯尼迪中心, The Academy offers students the opportunity to engage in a unique co-curricular program: rigorous, college-preparatory academic classes 和 professional-level arts training in the context of an unparalleled school culture. The Academy’s school day consists of a modified block schedule of three 75-minute blocks of academic courses 和 a 45-minute flex period followed by a three-plus hour immersion in a student's chosen arts department: 跳舞, 媒体艺术 (filmmaking, animation, creative writing), 音乐, 音乐剧, 剧院, 和 视觉艺术. At The 芝加哥 Academy for the 艺术, young artists master the skills necessary for academic success, 重要的思考, 和 creative expression.

Students come to The Academy from an array of backgrounds: some have had years of training; others are exploring a newly discovered passion. Some come from the city of 芝加哥, others commute from the suburbs or beyond. Some spend all four high school years at The Academy; others join the community later on in their academic careers. No matter their background, these students are united by a profound passion for the arts. 

During the admissions process, each student selects one arts department w在这里 they will focus their arts education while at The Academy.

40年来, The 芝加哥 Academy for the 艺术 has been one of Illinois’ great independent schools, an important 芝加哥 cultural institution, 和 “home” to hundreds of brilliant young artists characterized by their  passion, 目的, 和卓越.

The Academy’s “co-curricular” educational model is simple, yet transformational. Our rigorous academic program 和 immersive, pre-professional arts training prepare our students for an incredible variety of paths beyond high school, 主要的成功, meaningful lives in the arts 和 well beyond.

伊丽莎白·坎宁安 is the Dean of Students as well as the Student Services Coordinator. She has a Bachelor of 艺术 in Fine Art 和 a Master of Education in Special Education at Loyola University.

Elizabeth also serves as the Director of Learning Resources.

阿曼达LePard joins The Academy with over 10 years of 招生 experience in independent schools. 终身舞者, Am和a is classically trained 和 received a degree in 跳舞 和 Communication from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point before moving to 芝加哥 to pursue a professional dance career.

莎拉Hiatt is an artist 和 教育家 born 和 raised in the Ozarks. She uses photography to explore the ideas of grief, innocence, 和 growing up. Her work has been shown in various locations throughout the United States 和 internationally. Hiatt currently resides in 芝加哥, IL.

雷切尔布朗 is a 芝加哥-based chamber musician, 独奏者, 管弦乐表现,  教育家, 和 arts administrator. After three years as a regular member of the Civic Orchestra of 芝加哥, she is now the Associate 主要 Second Violin of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra 和 also performs with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, Rockford Symphony Orchestra, American 音乐 Festivals Orchestra, 和 Fort Wayne Philharmonic.

Rachel also serves as the Classical Violin 和 Viola Instructor 和 音乐ianship Instructor.

安德鲁•罗宾逊 earned his Bachelor of 艺术 in English 和 Religion from Rhodes College, his Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University, 和 his Master of 艺术 in Educational 剧院 from New York University. he has been a creative associate with the Wagon Wheel 剧院 for ten years w在这里 he has performed in 和 directed dozens of shows.

本迪克 holds a Master of Fine 艺术 in 剧院 Performance from the 芝加哥 College of Performing 艺术 at Roosevelt University as well as a Bachelor of 艺术 in 剧院 Education from Sterling College. He has worked as a professional actor for twenty years in regional markets throughout the country.

马吉·干草 has taught at The Academy since 2003 和 has been 视觉艺术 Department Chair since 2008. She has a Bachelor of Fine 艺术 from Pratt Institute 和 Master of Fine 艺术 from SUNY Buffalo.
